As a fine artist and self proclaimed 'Magpie' with a love of anything that has a history (loved or loathed) I realise that the value of a thing ultimately depends on our personal discernment/attachement, or is given to it by the relevant authorities. With a practice based in experimental process combined with traditional mediums (such as paint and wire) my aim is to create unique contemporary works that invite the viewer to imagine the possibility of historical gravitas and value, encouraging questions about the medium used. Never working to a premeditated result in my working moments allows me to create without prediction or ambition.
This expanded potential of a medium is at the heart of my practice; traditional mediums and techniques have a place with me along with my ability to experiment and push those boundaries. These monochromes and mettalic artworks are an example of what any traditional medium can reveal to us if we permit ourselves to break rules and therefore enrich our own and the viewers relationship with our Art.
